Design Check: The “Heat Tax”
The Physics: Your electric thruster is powerful, but it is not 100% efficient. The energy that doesn’t become thrust becomes Waste Heat.
The Constraint: In the vacuum of space, the only way to dump heat is via radiation (Thermal Radiators). As you increase power to the engines, your radiators must get bigger and heavier. Can you find the limit before the spacecraft becomes too heavy to launch?
System Inputs
(40% of input power becomes waste heat!)
